The Greater Johnstown Water Authority has just received the permit to discontinue feeding fluoride into the drinking water. The final day that fluoride will be fed is November 5, 2018. This will not affect the safety of the water and you may continue using it as usual. This notice is being given because you as a customer have the right to know how your water is being treated and it is a requirement of the permit that we notify you that we are discontinuing the fluoride feed. Fluoride is naturally occurring and may be found in water at low concentrations even when it is not fed into the supply. This is not an emergency and no immediate action is required. If you have health-related concerns regarding the discontinuation of fluoride, please speak with your healthcare providers regarding any recommended actions, such as the use of fluoride toothpaste.
